Are you concerned about your smile?
If you are unhappy with your smile, we can help. We have many cosmetic treatments to give you the smile you have always wanted.
We can use the most advanced techniques to give you a healthy-looking smile. First impressions mean everything and our state-of-the-art technology can transform your appearance. We offer a range of treatments, including tooth whitening, veneers, orthodontics (tooth straightening), implants, porcelain crowns and cosmetic tooth fillings. Veneers are the ideal way to treat discoloured, chipped or cracked teeth, and they can be used to fill gaps between front teeth. White fillings are now popular, as they are virtually invisible, unlike traditional amalgam fillings.
Our team will discuss your specific needs in detail before any treatment is recommended. Contact us now to arrange a consultation and see how we can help you gain more confidence with a smile you won’t want to hide.
The professional bleaching provided at Lion House Dentistry is an effective way of lightening the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surface. Your dentist will be able to confirm if you are suitable for treatment and will supervise you throughout your treatment.
The total treatment time will usually take between three and four weeks. You will be provided with a specially made tray which fits into your mouth like a gumshield, the whitening product is placed inside the tray which you wear as instructed by your dentist.
You keep the whitening trays at home, then you can purchase the tubes of whitening gel from us as and when you wish to 'top up' your teeth!
A dental implant is a safe and well established way of replacing missing teeth.
They are placed into the jawbone and are used to support one or more missing teeth. Well looked after implants can be expected to last many years.
You can have any number of teeth replaced with implants from one single tooth to a complete set. Placing an implant is often easier than taking a tooth out and usually done using a simple local anaesthetic.
A crown is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape of a natural tooth. A crown is sometimes known as a cap'.
Crowns are an ideal way to restore a broken tooth that has become weakened by decay, has a very large filling or has been root filled and you would like to protect the tooth.
At your crown prep appointment the dentist will prepare the tooth so that it is the ideal shape for the crown. Once this is done the dentist will take a mould of the prepared tooth and send this along with the shade and material required to the lab technician for the crown to be made. Crowns can be made from a variety of different materials. Please discuss with your dentist which would be suited to you.
Once the crown is returned from the laboratory the dentist can then cement this in place with a special adhesive.
A bridge is an option for replacing a missing tooth or missing teeth. This is made by putting crowns on the teeth at either side of the space, and then joining these two crowns together by placing a false tooth in the space.
Bridges are all made in the laboratory and then cemented into place with special adhesives. The bridge cannot be removed for cleaning. Another option is an adhesive or "Maryland" bridge. This has wings that are bonded to the back of the supporting teeth with very little drilling involved.
A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain made to fit over the front surface of a tooth, like a false fingernail fits over a nail. Sometimes a natural colour 'composite' material is used instead of porcelain.
Veneers can improve the colour, shape and position of your teeth. A precise shade of porcelain can be chosen to give the right colour to improve a single discoloured tooth or to lighten the front teeth. A veneer can make a chipped tooth look intact again. The porcelain covers the whole of the front of the tooth with a thicker section replacing the broken part. Veneers can also be used to close small gaps, when orthodontics (braces) are not suitable. If one tooth is slightly out of position, a veneer can sometimes be fitted to bring it into line with the others.
Endodontics - Root Canal Treatment
Root Canal Treatment is the removal of the nerve (pulp) from teeth that have been injured through damage from decay or trauma.
Carried out under local anaesthetic, the same as a filling would be, the nerve of the tooth is removed and replaced with a special filling material, then a restoration placed on top.
Orthodontics - Teeth straightening/Braces
Orthodontics is re-aligning the teeth with a fixed or removable brace. There area choice of treatments depending on your needs.
The treatment can take anything from 6 months to 2 years, and a clear orthodontic retainer needs to be worn post treatment to keep the teeth in their new position.
It is really important to protect your teeth when playing contact sports.
Impact and trauma to the teeth can do extensive damage, can be a costly mistake, and is so easily prevented.
